Closure of border: CGC impressed with level of compliance

<p>Acting Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service (CGC), Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, visited the Jibia-Magama border in Katsina state for a working visit and expressed his satisfaction with the level of compliance by the communities living in the border area.</p>, <p>Following a coup d’état in the neighbouring Niger Republic, there was a presidential directive to close the Nigeria-Niger border, and Adeniyi called on the communities around the borders to abide by the law and respect the presidential directives.</p>, <p>He clarified that the border closure initiated by President Bola Tinubu is not limited to Nigeria’s borders alone but applies to all ECOWAS countries that share borders with Niger Republic.</p>, <p>However, Adeniyi acknowledged the impact of the border closure on business activities in the border communities and expressed empathy for the difficulties faced by Nigerians during this period.</p>, <p>The State Comptroller of Nigeria Customs, Mohammed N. Musa, assured Adeniyi that his command has fully complied with the presidential order and is ready to ensure strict compliance by the people living in the area.</p>, <p>He commended the Comptroller General for his commitment and foresight and expressed that the border communities and security agencies would provide maximum support and respect the border closure order.</p>, <p>The spokesman of the Magama/Jibia border communities with the Niger Republic, Alhaji Hamza Sale Marini Jibia, reiterated their commitment to support government policies and directives.
