Uncle Jeff's Story - A Memoir of Survival during World War II and beyond

Uncle Jeff had to run through the burning streets of Rotterdam at age six to save himself from the bombardment by the German Luftwaffe. Jeff's family was forced to move to the southern part of the Netherlands where coal mining was the principal industry. As the oldest of four children, Jeff had to work underground in the mines to help support the family. After seven years of tremendously hard work, he met Americans with the liberating forces, and at the age of 23, he decided to emigrate to America. Jeff arrived in New York with one dollar in his pocket and took all kinds of jobs until he found a career in a food production plant. During this time, Jeff married a Burmese lady and became part of the Washington Southeast Asian diplomatic community, which prompted him and his wife to take a long journey through that region. Jeff moved up through the ranks in his company until he was stricken with bad health and forced into retirement. Jeff survived three heart attacks, but was grateful for a life of many blessings with others. In this book he shares his story and philosophy.Read more
