Takoma Park's very own J.R. The Golden Ticket is bringing a crispness to hip-hop that is has been lacking in it's up-and-corners. The Maryland native embraces the sounds of old, citing Bob Marley and 2pac as influences along with his religion. Like modern-day gatekeepers like Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole, he incorporates a healthy dosage of live instrumentation to heighten the intensity and envelop the listener into his world as he spits verse after verse that feels oddly personal. The lyrics come across more as text messages or pages ripped straight out of an autobiography that is still being penned on the rising star. This fantastical blend is showcased best on his latest project "Golden Flight" a fourteen track album that serves as the follow up to his debut album "Finding Myself".
