Even though we are in the 21st century and both genders are considered equals, at least in theory, there are still a number of challenges that women athletes continue to face, including harassment and gender discrimination in sports at all levels of play. While the participation of females in sports has risen significantly, a 2019 study conducted at Purdue University, indicated that the needle on media coverage of women’s sports has only moved a tiny fraction over the past 30 years.
